This policy explains what data Farflung ("we") uses.

No account

Farflung has no sign-up or login. Your logbook and settings are stored on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

Our server

The app downloads each day's prompts and its settings from our server. These requests contain no name, email, or account. Our server runs on Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses to deliver and protect the service.

Analytics

To learn how Farflung is played and to improve it, the app sends usage events to PostHog (hosted in the EU): which prompts you see, the countries you pin, your score and streak, which screens and features you use, and which Pro plan you choose or buy, with its price. These are tied to a random ID that PostHog creates on your device, not to your name, email, or Apple Account. We don't use this data for advertising and don't share it with ad networks.

Looking up answers

Tapping a search icon opens a Google search for that country and prompt in your own browser. Google's own privacy policy applies there. We don't see what you do next.

Ads

Starting a past day from the archive shows a rewarded ad from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your IP address and approximate location, device identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostics. This data is not linked to your identity by us. Farflung does not use App Tracking Transparency and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland we ask for your consent first, and you can change it any time in the app's menu under Ad privacy. See how Google uses data.

Data summary

• Collected: device identifier, advertising data, ad interactions, approximate location, and diagnostics (by Google AdMob, for advertising); the countries you pin, scores, feature usage, and Pro plan events, tied to a random device ID (by PostHog, for analytics).
• Stored on your device only: your full logbook of past days, and your settings.
• Never collected: your real name, email, precise location, contacts, photos, or payment details.

Purchases

Farflung Pro is bought through Apple. We never see your name, Apple Account, or payment details; the app only checks with Apple, on your device, whether Pro is active. Players with Pro see no ads.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, and Farflung is not directed at children under 13.
